Family River Service river

We believe this is one of the greatest experiences families can enjoy together.  Many families are simply surviving—trying to keep up with their hectic schedules.   They are overloaded and overworked.  The Family River service is a time to come and relax in the presence of God.  We worship together and pray together with no heavy agenda.  An opportunity to GET IN THE RIVER is offered every couple of months at 5 PM on Sunday evenings.

man prayingWe encourage everyone to get away from the TV and bring the entire family to the RIVER to be refreshed and renewed.  All children are encouraged to be in the service.

These services are always followed by a time of refreshments in the STADIUM.

“...where the river flows everything will live.”    Ezekiel 47:9

Water Baptism

Everyone who believes in Jesus should be baptized in water! We believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has decided to be a follower of Christ. We consider it a privilege to walk with you as you take this next step on your spiritual journey.

What We Believe About Baptism

baptism

Who Should Be Baptized?
Christians believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, salvation occurs only when a person places his or her faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for his or her sin.

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you are ready to be baptized. Just like a bride and groom show others their love for one another by wearing wedding bands, your baptism is your opportunity to show others that you have accepted Christ and are now walking with Him.

What does Baptism Symbolize?
Baptism is a way of showing others that you have entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ. It symbolizes what took place in your heart at the time of salvation:

  • You shared in His death and resurrection, illustrated by going under the water (dead to your old life), then rising again (new life).
  • You were symbolically washed clean and sins were forgiven by His death on the cross.

baptism Because Jesus instructed us to be baptized, baptism is an act of obedience. While it is not necessary for salvation, it demonstrates submission to God. We immerse at the ASSEMBLY because we believe Scripture shows that Jesus modeled that for us as the way to publicly acknowledge our faith in Him.

How Do I Get Baptized?

  1. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you are a candidate for water baptism.
  2. You will have many opportunities in our church services to sign up for water baptism.
  3. Attend the mandatory water baptism meeting that will be held to give you specifics on dates, what to bring, how to celebrate your baptism, etc.

AS YOU TAKE THIS STEP OF OBEDIENCE, EXPECT GOD TO DO SOMETHING GREAT IN YOUR LIFE!!

Baby Dedications (baptisms)

What about baby baptism?
"Every person who has believed in Christ should be baptized. The purpose is to publicly confess your personal commitment to Jesus Christ."                                                                                                Acts 2:4

What about infant baptism then? There is no indication in the Bible that infants were baptized. However, we encourage parents to dedicate their children to God in infancy. Our regular child dedication ceremonies allow parents to make public statements of their intent to raise their child according to God’s biblical directives. Our church family agrees to support their efforts through prayer and participation.

Our baby dedication ceremonies are a joyous time for parents to bring their child in front of the congregation, show a couple pictures on the big screen and be prayed over. At this time, the congregation is reminded that we will all be part of helping the family raise their child in the Lord.  If interested in being water baptized or dedicating your child to the Lord, please call the church office at 814-725-3435.
